Events:
Each year St. Joseph's remembers those who served in our armed forces by celebrating a special Memorial Day Mass at the cemetery. Follow along here or at the St. Joseph's Parish webpage for more information on the date and time of the service.
A big thanks to Vernon and Colleen Kirkland and Anna Pullen for taking the time to honor our veterans by placing American flags on the stones of those who served for this year's Memorial Day mass.

Flowers and Stone Decorations:
Plaques to Honor Military ServiceThis is one of many kinds of plaques that can be received for military service. They can only be requested by the family: spouse, children, cousins, etc. The cemetery cannot do this. The plaque shown to the right is provided at no cost and comes in different sizes. If you are interested in a larger plaque, there are larger sizes available but you will be charged depending on which size and style you pick. There are options to be reimbursed some money from the state, but it may be a while due to the State of Illinois and its Budget.
If you would like to request this plaque for a member of your family contact Michael A. Brooks at the Peoria County Veterans Assistance Commission at 309-681-2554 or [email protected] They will need information on your Veteran in order to look them up and confirm their service and branch. You then can order the plaque and it will be mailed to your house. Make sure that you check your family member's stone to make sure that the size you order will fit where you would like it placed. You can put the plaque on the stone yourself or you can have a Monument Company do this (a professional mounting by a monument company will likely include a charge). |
The picture shown above is the largest (It is 6 3/8" W X 4 3/4" H X1/2" D, there are two sizes smaller than this). There are larger plaques than this, but the larger sizes do cost money.
